Fallout From Chicago Reporter’s Suit Against Station

Former WMAQ-TV Reporter Amy Jacobson’s decision to sue rival Chicago station WBBM-TV over a story that led to her losing her job creates an unusual situation in which even media members are trying to blame the media for their predicaments, a columnist at the Chicago Daily Herald says. A Chicago Sun-Times columnist, meanwhile, opines that losing a career over a bad decision to chase a story while in a bikini, hardly seems a fair punishment. Jacobson was fired and has been unable to find a job since WBBM aired video of her in a swimsuit at the home of a man in the news whose wife has been missing since April 2007.
