Election Hasn’t Boosted Network Newscasts

While widespread interest in the presidential election campaign is boosting many media outlets, including the cable news channels, it hasn’t halted skidding ratings at the network evening newscasts, the New York Times reports. The lower ratings at NBC, ABC and CBS came despite extensive coverage of the candidates. Even sending their anchors to accompany Sen. Barack Obama on his tour of the Middle East and Europe resulted in audience numbers that were flat, the paper says.

  1. McCain vs Obama not nearly as interesting as Clinton vs Obama. Veep choices might shake it up a bit.
