GE Likely to Hold on to NBC

While NBC Universal may not be a good fit with industrial giant General Electric, a sale of the media business is unlikely in the foreseeable future, BusinessWeek says. There don’t appear to be any real buyers for NBC, and tight credit markets would make it difficult for private equity players to make a move, the magazine says. Meanwhile, GE said it would register at least $1.7 billion in revenues from sales of advertising time and GE industrial products used at Olympic venues, the Los Angeles Times reports. Profits could be more than $150 million. The results could show that GE gets a financial benefit from owning NBC Universal, another reason not to sell it off.
