NBC responded to charges that some of the fireworks during the Beijing Olympics’ Opening Ceremony were computer-generated by pointing out that commentators Matt Lauer and Bob Costas called the fireworks a “cinematic device,” the Hollywood Reporter says. The network also responded to accusation that its “Live” tag on the West Coast is misleading by pointing to the twice-per-hour time stamps accompanying the tag that tell West Coast viewers that the event was broadcast live on the East Coast only, the newspaper says.
