“American Idol” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe will be stepping down from his duties as showrunner for the ratings powerhouse “American Idol,” TelevisionWeek reports. Lythgoe previously said he would focus on building international versions of “So You Think You Can Dance,” and as a result would become less involved with the upcoming season’s auditions. Fox confirmed he would be departing the show, but will continue to work on “Dance,” the paper reports.
