Olympics Quiet NBCU Sales Talk

NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker said that the company’s Olympics broadcasts, which will generate a profit, will quiet talk about parent General Electric selling the media company, the Financial Times reports. NBCU, which paid $894 million for rights to The Games, will be in the black on the investment, though Zucker said the tally will be short of $100 million profit, the Financial Times says. Zucker also said talk of a sale “is just silly speculation and has no basis in truth. Hopefully this will lay that silly speculation to rest,” the FT says.
