SAG to Release List of Board Nominees

Aug 4, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The Screen Actors Guild will release the names of the candidates for its national board Tuesday, kicking off an election campaign as the union deals internal factions dueling for leadership at the same time it attempts to negotiate its contract dispute with the studios, Deadline Hollywood Daily says. A group of members under the Unite for Change banner has voiced its concern over the current leadership in light of the deadlocked contract talks. Ballots will be mailed to members on Aug. 19 and must be returned by Sept. 18. The election, however, will not affect the members of the current negotiating team—under guild rules, the negotiating team currently involved in a contract dispute will remain until a resolution is reached, the site says. Meanwhile, current union leadership says it has continued to talk to the studios, even though the studios said they’d ceased negotiating, Daily Variety says.
