A series of tax breaks have allowed the cast and crew of “Ugly Betty” to produce the series in New York City, the show’s setting, USA Today reports. “Betty” returns to ABC for its third season from the location where it should have been all along,’ executive producer and show runner Silvio Horta tells the newspaper. “It was the best thing for the show.” Star America Ferrera says the move given the show “an incredible boost in energy and production values. It opens the show up.” Although the series’ pilot was shot in New York, production took place in Los Angeles for the first two seasons.
