Some viewers may miss out on next year’s Academy Awards telecast, scheduled for Feb. 22, five days after the national DTV switch, Daily Variety reports. Some viewers who had put off on preparations for the switch may not be ready to receive the telecast so quickly. ABC considered pushing the ceremony to March as a one-time occurrence, giving more people a chance to prepare and giving the network a chance at claiming the ratings during next spring’s sweeps period, also pushed to March due to the analog switch off, the trade says.

If people haven’t prepared over the past three years or so, another month isn’t going to make a difference.
