“Saturday Night Live” alum Al Franken clinched the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in his home state of Minnesota, USA Today reports. The comedian-actor-author beat six opponents, taking 66% of the public vote in the state’s primary election. Franken will face the incumbent, Republican Norm Coleman, and Dean Barkley of the Independent Party in the November general election.

There’s been enough Senators appering on SNL over the years. It’s about time an SNL cast member goes to the Senate.
