Las Vegas CBS Affiliate Cuts 17 Jobs

Sep 18, 2008  •  Post A Comment

CBS’ Las Vegas affiliate KLAS-TV has laid off 17 of its staffers and changed the positions of four others, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports. The station is going through a cost-cutting “reorganization” due to the recession in foreclosure-prone Las Vegas. General Manager Emily Neilson said the decision was “a gut-wrenching experience for all of us.” Among those laid off were two anchors, a reporter and an executive producer.

  1. Sad news, indeed, for one of my earliest stations. I was the morning man/chief engineer for KLAS in 1951 when it was a 250-Watt CBS affiliate. There were three AMs in town and one FM, and NO TV! The population was 30,000 and the two lane road to L.A. was a really pleasant drive.
As I am prone to say (or even standingt up) they’ve RUINED my town.
