With the Screen Actors Guild unable to reach an agreement, the studios and networks are signing talent in primetime shows to contracts under terms of a deal ratified by rival union AFTRA, Daily Variety reports. Studios see the choice as the strike-proof method of getting series completed. SAG and AFTRA share union jurisdiction over shows shot on video, which includes more series this year being shot in digital formats. Among the new series that have signed with AFTRA contracts are The CW’s “90210” and CBS’s “Gary Unmarried,” Variety says.
