Sen. John McCain’s unexpected call to delay Friday’s presidential debate is just another in a series of twists and turns thus far in the campaign, say news organizations, Broadcasting & Cable reports. “It’s only the latest drama,” said Jay Wallace, Fox News Channel’s VP of news editorial product. Despite the senator’s request, major news organizations are still on hand in Oxford, Miss., should the debate go on as scheduled, and Sen. Barack Obama plans to be there. Producing an event of this size takes a lot of time and planning, so Wallace hopes it’s still on. “There is a limited window of opportunity. Security at these things is months in the planning,” he tells B&C.
