Networks may be more likely to cancel shows after just one episode this year than in previous years because of the higher costs associated with keeping low-rated series on the air, the New York Times reports. Two shows were cancelled before their second episode aired last season, something that happened only about 10 times during the prior 36 years, the paper says.
