With Gustav Gone, Anchors Return to RNC

Sep 2, 2008  •  Post A Comment

With Hurricane Gustav now downgraded to a tropical storm, network anchors are headed north to the Twin Cities to cover the Republican National Convention, the Los Angeles Times reports. CBS’ Katie Couric, ABC’s Charles Gibson and NBC’s Brian Williams are expected to deliver their nightly newscasts from the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Fox News Channel’s Shepard Smith also are expected to broadcast from the RNC.

  1. I have yet to understand the logic of sending reporters and camera crews into evacuated areas so they can bring us live reports with high winds and heavy rain in the backdrop. Some day, a reporter is going to be seriously injured or killed by flying debris on live television; which will boost ratings for a day or two, I suppose.
