Another Heated Political Discussion on ‘The View’

After another blowup on the set of ABC’s “The View” this morning, the Los Angeles Times is asking if co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck needs a lifeline. Hasselback was left with the Sisyphean task of defending Gov. Sarah Palin’s credentials this morning after a clip was played of the governor taking a crack at opponent Sen. Joe Biden’s age. Hasselbeck was pretty much on her own against co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Barbara Walters. The conversation was cut to go to commercial before things got too heated, the paper says, and when the show came back on, Walters gave Hasselbeck a hug. Today’s exchange followed Tuesday’s episode when Hasselbeck had to defend Palin against comments that guest Bill Maher made about the Alaskan governor. “I’ve seen [Palin] twice try to speak. The sentence to nowhere is what comes out of her mouth,” Maher said on Tuesday’s show.
