Fox is developing an American version of the British series “Absolutely Fabulous,” Daily Variety reports. The original, starring Jennifer Saunders, followed two women over 40-years-old with an affinity toward alcohol and desire to be cool. The project will be executive produced by talent from Sony Pictures TV and BBC Worldwide America. Original creator Saunders will also join as executive producer, the trade says.

  1. It’s about time. The original is one of the funniest shows ever. The rights have changed hands many times but this is the first I have heard about any American version including Saunders in its development. Since she wrote and starred in the original series, I think this show could work here with her input.

  2. They should cast Parker Posey!

  3. i would love to know when it is coming out
i love love love that show
    i have the whole collection
i hope they really promote it alot

  4. AbFab was excellent. Never laughed so hard. Got me through some difficult days that first summer on Comedy Central. Once got to sit next to Joanna Lumley (SP) “Patsy” at the Opera, my girlfriend couldnt understand the attraction to a middle aged beehive, but they are both great. So Hollywood keep it as “Brit” and as current as possible and it will score! And, don’t be afraid to promo it with kudos to the original! Fab!
