More than 55 million people watched the 2004 presidential election on the top television news networks combined. This year, the broadcast and cable outlets are introducing new features to top that number today, the Wall Street Journal says. Last time around, NBC was the top broadcaster with 15 million viewers and Fox News on cable drew 8 million. New technologies for this year’s coverage include virtual reality studios at NBC, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, and a 3-D hologram at CNN, the Journal notes.
