The honeymoon seems to be over for reality shows on broadcast television, Media Life Magazine reports. No new unscripted series are hits, and the only ones succeeding these days are aging favorites like Fox’s “American Idol,” ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” and CBS’ “The Amazing Race.” The novelty of reality shows has, apparently, worn off. “These shows are like scripted shows,” says Brad Adgate, senior VP and corporate research director at Horizon. “After a while there’s some fatigue.”
