Soap Veterans Latest Recession Casualties

Nov 19, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The recession is showing that it knows no bounds with today’s firing of “Days of Our Lives” veterans Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn, who play Dr. Marlena Evans and John Black on the daytime drama, TV Guide reports. The cuts were made so that the show could remain on the air for the next 18 months, the magazine said. Hall had been on and off the show since 1976, while Black joined the cast in 1984.

  1. Firing the most popular stars certainly won’t save the show. If anything, it’ll really bring the ratings down further. Why can’t the powers that be see that it is the writers that need to be fired. RIP Days of Our Lives; it’s been good while it lasted.

  2. I have watched this show since 1965,and you have just made the biggest mistake by letting go of these very talented actors that have made this show as interesting as it has been.BY the way this Philip is the orginal to fans that don’t know this!!!And please bring back the laughs that this show has had in the past,as its depressing enough with our economy
