WCAU Photographers Threaten Strike

Nov 25, 2008  •  Post A Comment

Photographers for NBC’s owned-and-operated Philadelphia station, WCAU-TV, have voted to strike if their current contract talks with the station prove to be fruitless, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. The photographers are upset over what they see as the station doing away with seniority. Station representatives declined to comment on the situation because of WCAU’s policy not to discuss personnel matter. The Daily News says a recent agreement between WCAU and Fox affiliate WTXF-TV to share video news footage could be utilized more heavily should a strike take place.

  1. There is no such position at WCAU as “Photographer”. All technical personnel are “TECHNICIANS”.

  2. The comment by Mr. Higgins is correct. Technical workers at WCAU are all covered by the same contract. So if there is a strike the entire technical staff goes out. Also, WTFX is covered by the same Union, so they will probably not provide footage for WCAU.
