Viacom and NBC Universal said they were cutting 1,350 jobs as they adjust to the deepening recession and slow advertising sales, TelevisionWeek says. About 20 staffers are being dismissed at NBC Entertainment, TVWeek says. Analysts expect more job cuts at media companies as the industry faces the recession on top of a transition from traditional media to digital, Dow Jones says.
