Dick Clark, who turned 79 last month, is determined to appear on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2009” on ABC, a 3 ½ hour live program, the Associated Press reports, citing an emailed interview with Clark. Clark, who uses a walker or wheelchair and whose speech is impaired from a stroke four years ago, wrote “thank goodness” that Seacrest was able to handle the more demanding aspects of the program.

  1. I do pr for Dick Clark. You have written a paragraph gives a false impression. Dick has done his show the past three years post-stroke. He is doing the show again this year. You make it sound like he may not and that just isn’t the case. He is not determined to appear, he IS appearing. There is a difference.

  2. Apparently Dick Clark never heard of the old show biz adage: “Know when to do your act, and know when to get off!” Of course we all feel sorry that he is old and weak, but why come on TV and rub our noses in it?
