Pedigree Buys First Super Bowl Spot

Mars’ Pedigree dog food is buying its first Super Bowl advertisement, in
what may also be a first for the pet food industry, Advertising Age reports. NBC is asking $2.8 million to $3 million for a spot on the Feb. 1 broadcast. Meanwhile, sources tell the New York Post that with the Super Bowl coming back to NBC after a long absence, parent company General Electric may buy ad time during the game. The purchase would support GE’s strategy of spending its ad dollars
on its media properties, such as NBC and cable network Bravo. General
Electric declined to comment.
