Piven Leaves Broadway Due to High Mercury Count

“Entourage” star Jeremy Piven will be leaving his role on Broadway’s “Speed-the-Plow” due to what the actor says is a condition attributable to a high mercury count, Daily Variety reports. Piven missed performances this week and will not be with the show until February as originally expected, the trade says. A spokeswoman for the actor said the diagnosis came from a team of doctors in New York and Connecticut, Variety adds. “So my understanding is that he is leaving show business to pursue a career as a thermometer,” the show’s writer David Mamet said, according to the trade.
