SAG Blasts AMPTP for Newspaper Ad

Dec 2, 2008  •  Post A Comment

The Screen Actors Guild released a response to an advertisement from Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers media leaders blasting them for using funds to scold SAG rather than move discussion forward. The statement, as posted on SAG’s Web site, says the union’s needs are “different—not better” than those of other organizations and they seek to “fairly negotiate the unique needs of actors.” The AMPTP responded with a brief statement criticizing SAG for its demands in light of the current economy, alleging that “SAG is officially out of touch with reality.” An e-mail from SAG to members Monday night further asked for a strike authorization as leverage to reopen negotiations “so the AMPTP knows that we mean business,” according to Deadline Hollywood Daily.
