“American Idol” is featuring fewer bizarre candidates for the singing competition, cutting the audition episodes to three from four, the New York Times reports. The auditions have drawn too many people willing to appear as fools just to get themselves on television at the expense of highlighting talent. The program’s executive producer Ken Warwick has said that this season, “they couldn’t just come in a costume and guarantee that they were going to get on TV, not anymore.”
