Moderate members of the Screen Actors Guild ousted national executive director Doug Allen Monday, ending his role as the union’s chief negotiator, Daily Variety reports. The faction also replaced the negotiating committee, the publication says. Allen’s departure almost guarantees the elimination of a possible actors’ strike, the Hollywood Reporter says. John McGuire, a longtime SAG senior adviser who has worked on settling many of the union’s contracts, is replacing Allen, Reuters reports.
