President Barack Obama’s inauguration was viewed by 37.8 million people on Tuesday throughout the day, TelevisionWeek reports, citing figures from Nielsen Media Research. That ranks it as the second most-watched inauguration behind Ronald Reagan’s in 1981, the TVWeek says.

  1. In today’s media world those are good numbers. In 1981, Walter Cronkite was just getting ready to leave The CBS Evening News, CNN was still a wish and a prayer for Ted Turner and cable viewing overall was dismal.
ABC, CBS & NBC still ruled network TV and our leaders and especially the President Elect had a strong media involvement and following.
Twenty-eight years later it is a completely different world of “TV”.
Bless our Nation and all of us in it.
