People’s Choice Awards Loses Allure

The People’s Choice Awards, which will be celebrating its 35th year Wednesday night, has lost much of its glamour and star power over the last few years, the Los Angeles Times says. Such new categories as Favorite Scene-Stealing Guest Star “won’t earn the prizes any new respect,” Tom O’Neil says. The results of the show used to line up more with other award ceremonies, but after the PCA opened voting online the awards have taken a less expansive and less scientific approach to deciding the winners, the O’Neil says.
