Ratings for serious news shows, such as “60 Minutes” on CBS, ABC’s “NightLine” and PBS’ “NewsHour,” are adding viewers as softer outlets recede from their electon season highs, the Wall Street Journal reports. The economy may be drawing viewers away from celebrity gossip and other fluff. “At a moment like this, where the sky’s falling on a lot of fronts, there’s a strong market for serious news,” Jeff Fager, executive producer of “60 Minutes,” tells the paper.
