The government of Ontario, Canada, said it will make permanent the tax credits for television and movie producers that it raised last year, the Hollywood Reporter says. The move follows California’s decision to approve its own tax breaks worth as much as $500 million a year for five years. Ontario, which raised its tax credit for foreign producers last year to 25% from 18%, is competing with U.S. states for 16 North American television pilot productions looking for places to shoot, the newspaper reports.
