CBS Paramount Seek to Trim TV Stars’ Raises

Feb 6, 2009  •  Post A Comment

CBS Paramount is asking on-air talent on its dramas to forgo their annual raises in order to offset rising costs and prevent layoffs of behind-the-scenes personnel, Entertainment Weekly reports. The move will affect only CBS dramas produced by the studio, including the “CSI” titles, “NCIS” and “Numb3rs,” but not shows from outside the studio, such as “The Mentalist” and “Without a Trace,” the site says. An executive producer on one of the affected shows said, “If our lead doesn’t accept the freeze, we will have no choice but to let one of our supporting actors go,” according to EW.
