Entertainment Job Outlook Worrisome

Trends such as small staffing on reality television shows threaten the health of Los Angeles entertainment employment, according to the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp., the Hollywood Reporter says. Broadcasters and cable companies will trim 1,000 positions this year, compared with a gain of about 1,000 for film and sound-recording companies, the trade paper says. “Everybody is looking toward costs with all the declining viewership at the broadcast networks, so you’re looking at a possible change in your business model,” LAEDC economist Jack Kyser tells the publication.
