Hulu aired its first commercial during Sunday night’s Super Bowl telecast for free, the New York Times observes. The Web video service, a joint venture between NBC Universal and News Corp., received investment and commercial credits from the parent companies at the time it was founded, the newspaper says. Although Hulu technically paid for the ads, it did so using resources given to it by the original investors, the site explains.
