While scripted television shows still tend to have leads who are young and white, reality programs consistently include a broader range of races and ages, with CBS’ “The Amazing Race,” for example, including both Asian American and African American teams, the Los Angeles Times reports. It’s not an accident, say reality show producers, who point to the need to create programs that reflect the true American population, the newspaper says.
