ABC to Wrap ‘Mars’

Mar 3, 2009  •  Post A Comment

ABC has told the producers of “Life on Mars” that it won’t be ordering another season of the show, Television Week reports. That will allow the writers to create a definite ending to the show, the publication says. “We felt it was the right thing to do for the producers and the fans and creatively,” ABC Entertainment Group President Steve McPherson told Television Week.

  1. MARS was one of the worst written shows I’ve ever seen and should have been cancelled a long time ago. The producers who put this together with all that quality star power and then either ordered or allowed the writers to write such drivel should be banned from the industry. What a waste of good acting talent.

  2. Sorry Mr. Brown, but I must disagree with you. I enjoy the show’s quirky characters and stories, and I will miss it greatly. Reality shows? Now THAT’S drivel….

  3. “LIFE” was interesting, unusual, and sometimes compelling television. No, it wasn’t the best writing in the world, but like “ELI STONE”, “OCTOBER ROAD”, and “WHAT ABOUT BRIAN”, it tried to create characters the audience would care about. ABC has forgotten about creating likeable, interesting characters and with the death of “LIFE”, I will now NOT watch yet another hour of ABC programming. They’ll put on another reality show like: “WHO GIVES A CRAP ABOUT THE BATCHELOR NANNY WHO CAN DANCE WITH THE STARS.”
Some day maybe the ABC braintrust will learn to let a show breathe a little and maybe they’ll come up with some real winners.

  4. I think it was a great show, i was hooked on the characters and the plot. ABC has done it again, remember INVASION, PUSHING DAISIES and add many more to the list.
I hope HBO, or any cable network, picks it up.
I feel very sad, and i will missed the show.

  5. I can count on one hand, the tv programs I make a point to watch. L.O.M. is/was one of them and might I add the only one on ABC. I was leary in the first place to start watching L.O.M. on ABC because the network has the propensity to pull shows too quickly as the prior emailer stated. And funny…it happened again. ABC, I WON’T be duped again! I guess I’ll have to start watching “Ashes to Ashes” on BBC America.
Maybe the fans can get a going away present in the form of a “Life on Mars” soundtrack?

  6. Watch the British series, and you’ll not only get to see the ending – and there is a real ending to this show – but you’ll also get to see a better version of the show.
