Foreign Actors Populate Pilots

Non-U.S. actors are gaining ground in this year’s pilot season, with performers who are well known in their own countries yet mostly unknown here landing lead roles, the Hollywood Reporter says. Matt Passmore, a familiar TV actor in Australia, was set for the lead on Fox’s pilot “Masterwork,” while Charity Wakefield of the U.K. was tapped for “Legally Mad,” for example, the trade paper says. Several pilots, such as ABC’s “Flash Forward,” have tapped three or more non-American actors.
