Pilots Look Outside California

At least 20 of the 39 hour-long pilots and presentations ordered by the broadcast networks and The CW are scheduled to be taped outside of California, with studios looking for ways to tighten budgets and find tax breaks, Daily Variety reports. Cities ranging from Pittsburgh to Richmond, Va., have drawn pilots with tax-incentives, while broadcast executives say California’s $500 million, five-year production tax credit incentive program presents too many restrictions, the trade paper says.
