Syracuse, N.Y.’s WTVH fired at least 40 employees Monday, following an announcement from station owner Granite Broadcasting that it was outsourcing functions with Barrington Broadcasting’s WSTM, Syracuse.com reports. The two parent companies entered a similar deal for their local stations in Peoria, Ill., where Granite will provide services for Barrington’s station, Syracuse.com adds. Some of WTVH’s employees will remain on staff as part of the transition team, although a major part of the channels’ news operations have been dropped, the site says.
