Some executives at independent television stations say their independence is helping them weather the economic climate, Broadcasting & Cable reports. One benefit is not being saddled with the debt that many publicly traded TV station companies are dealing with, the publication says. “The luxury of being a private company is we can make some decisions we think will help build for the long term,” Schurz Communications CEO Todd Schurz tells the trade paper.
