Freedom Tower Antenna Plans Change

Apr 9, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Plans for the proposed Freedom Tower, a transmission tower to be located on the new building being erected at the World Trade Center site, have fallen apart, the New York Observer reports, citing unnamed sources familiar with the situation. Eleven local broadcast stations were planning on sharing use of the tower, which was to be added on top of the new building to reach the symbolic height of 1,776 feet, the magazine says. A representative for the Port Authority-owned site said there still are plans to build an antenna at the site with hopes of landing another deal in the future, the Observer adds.
