L.A. Off-Lot TV Production Jumps

Apr 14, 2009  •  Post A Comment

Off-lot television production in Los Angeles jumped 76% in the first quarter to 6,274 days of shooting, the fifth highest quarter on record, Daily Variety reports, citing statistics from permitting agency Film L.A. The rise was attributable to the WGA strike, which reduced TV production in the year-earlier period, the trade paper says. Meanwhile, production days for feature films declined 56% during the first quarter, due to the trend of movies shooting outside of Los Angeles and the threat of the actors’ strike, the publication says.
