Sitcom Star Bea Arthur Dies

Bea Arthur, a star of the television comedies “Maude” and “The Golden Girls,” died Saturday of cancer at 86, the New York Times reports. The husky-voiced actress won one Emmy for her performance in each show, and 11 nominations overall, the paper says.

  1. I was fortunate enough to work with Bea on MAUDE and other projects after that.
    She was, as I like to say, “Good People”. A consumate pro and a very real, good-hearted person.
