With The CW getting out of the comedy business, Fox planning to launch only “awesome” sitcoms in protected time periods, and NBC cutting back on the amount of time it has for anything scripted, it’s a tough time for sitcoms on the broadcast networks, Entertainment Weekly says. “With the ‘Closed for Repairs’ sign going up so much around town at the broadcast nets, it’s no wonder sitcom writers are finding new life on the kiddie cablers like Nickelodeon and Disney Channel,” EW says.
