Newsweek takes a look at the passing of the vertically integrated media conglomerates and concludes they’ve left mostly negative marks on the corporate landscape. Among their dubious legacies are the over-hyped notion of synergy, fewer voices as the media outlets consolidated, and EBITDA, a stand-in for profits that never materialized, the magazine says.
