The schedules announced this week during the broadcast networks’ upfront presentations were largely shaped by cost-cutting, Daily Variety reports. That led to the cancellation of ABC’s “Samantha Who?” after the show couldn’t trim $500,000 per episode, while “Medium” switched to CBS from NBC because of a battle over fees, the trade paper adds. The result of the budget battles is that older, more costly shows were more likely to be canceled over those from sister studios with lower costs, the Hollywood Reporter says.
