WGN-TV, Chicago, has laid off reporter Jane Boal, who gained attention in 1999 when she was hit by a car while reporting live on the station’s noon newscast, the Chicago Tribune reports. The station cut a number of other staffers, including a sports producer and a producer on the station’s morning show, the newspaper says. Boal’s recurring segments on the station included “Good News” and “Unsung Heroes,” according to the Tribune.
