Chicago’s ABC-owned station WLS-TV is in a position to separate itself from the major competing stations in the market when the others begin a new news-content sharing program, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. WLS General Manager Emily Barr said she decided not to have her station join local NBC-, Fox- CBS- and Tribune-owned stations in the cost-cutting program in order to maintain the channel’s independent image when it comes to news coverage.
