‘Y&R’ Star Walks Out Over Gay Kiss

May 21, 2009  •  Post A Comment

“The Young and the Restless” star Chris Engen has quit the daytime drama after refusing to share a same-sex kiss with actor Yani Gellman, TVGuide.CA reports. Engen is still under contract, but unnamed sources at the show say he has been unhappy with the “dark direction his character is taking,” the site says.

  1. Once again, our media continues to push the
“homosexual” agenda, thinking it’s “OK”, but
    it’s not!

  2. Good riddance homophobe, guess he prefers to fantasize about men on his own time. It’s allllways those that speak most harshly against homosexuality that are hiding in the closet themselves! Secure heterosexual men could care less about that stuff..and not only is homosexuality OK, it ain’t goin anywhere so get that inbred brain used to it! He he! 🙂

  3. I’m not a fan of any soap opera but if Chris Engen is uncomfortable with that part, he shouldn’t play the character. I know I couldn’t kiss another woman; the thought nauseates me.
At the same time…he is an actor and actors should do what the part calls for.
That said, I’m still not comfortable with gay relations during day time hours.

  4. The “inbred brain” comment posted by anonymous “whatever” makes zero sense. I’m guessing that’s not the only reason this person chose to be anonymous, but that’s another ball of wax. So glad Chris Engen chose to walk out. It shows there actually is someone in the acting/media world with a shred of moral integrity. Choosing to not kiss someone of the same gender has nothing to do with how secure they are in their “sexuality”, it’s a moral choice about doing the right thing! Just because someone stands up for what is right and speaks out against homosexuality (which the limp gay world always translates as abuse and being mistreated…such drama ‘queens’…) doesn’t mean that the one speaking out is hiding in the closet. Why do gay people have to twist EVERYTHING to make themselves look like such ‘victims’? That’s almost more irritating than their sexual perversion!

  5. Wow, it amazes me how much ignorance there is on this website. Heather: Look at your comment (that you had to post 3 times for some reason) – “Just because someone stands up for what is right and speaks out against homosexuality (which the limp gay world…” In this comment, you say that your side is right, then you insult gays by inserting the adjective “limp.” Then you proceed to call gays perverts. Those comments are why gay people say they are victimized. Hatred spewed by people like you is towards people – those people are victims of your hatred. You don’t have to agree with gay people, just like they don’t agree with your hatred. Just keep it to yourself. To “Just My Opinion”: The thought of kissing a woman nauseates you? But the thought of sucking on a man’s ______ doesn’t nauseate you??? Interesting…

  6. AJ — the end of your comment made me laugh.
If the ACTOR is playing a ROLE and the ROLE calls for a same-gender kiss, then the ACTOR has the right to walk away from the ROLE if he can’t come to an agreement with the producers. There is no need for this to become a political/religious forum.
How you feel about homosexuality is completely irrelevant.
He made a personal decision. It is neither a victory for the anti-gay movement or a defeat for the gay community.

  7. Just to clarify — with the exceptin of the first line, my posting was not directed specifically at anyone, just a general comment.

  8. Why is Creating a Mosque at Ground Zero honestly sanctioned to happen? I have never heard anything at all so downright just plain ridiculous in all of my life. If this really goes to fact, It will be the worst thing possible. victoria
